Human imagination and the natural world are the muse for creativity and the result is appreciation of the visual arts. Our ancestors left drawings on cave walls that communicated information about the natural world for survival of the next generation.

Today, art is the common thread that links us with our past. It is a visual feast for the viewer and artist to ponder and enjoy.

I am interested in portraying the emotion of a scene and abstraction adds the intellectual element through the materials I use.

Pushing techniques to their limits allows for surprise—and sometimes something wonderful is yielded.

An artist’s statement about the work cannot replace dialog between the viewer and the artist, but an explanation can bring appreciation of the complexities that underlie the finished piece.

Ultimately, the viewer is either intrigued or indifferent, and the everyday saying, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, rings true.
